Evaluating the Performance of Electrical Discharge Face Grinding on Super Alloy Monel 400

Abstract Conventional machining of super alloy Monel 400 is difficult due to its high strength, low heat conductivity, and gummy nature. In this work, the performance electrical discharge diamond face grinding (EDDFG) while processing supper assessed using abrasive diamond-coated wheels three different grit numbers. Preliminary experiments highlighted superior EDDFG as compared that (EDM) (EDFG); in terms material removal rate (MRR), average surface roughness (Ra), microscopic images surfaces scanning electron microscope (SEM). This work aimed assess influence number (DGn) wheel along with other process parameters, viz. speed (GWS), peak current (Ip), pulse-on-time (Ton) on Ra MRR. The analysis variance (ANOVA) confirmed DGn GWS significantly affect response variables. Finally, multi-objective genetic algorithm (GA) optimization approach was used determine optimal parametric settings process.
